Tbilisi - Davidgaraji - Sighnaghi

TBILISI - BORJOMI - AHALTSIKHE

Transfer to Akhaltsikhe from Tbilisi.

AHALTSIKHE-KUTAISI

Transfer to Kutaisi.
Sightseeing tour of the ancient capital of the Colchic kingdom - Kutaisi. Kutaisi - the oldest city, for the first time in the annals there is a mention of it in the VI-III centuries. BC. e. Since 806, the city of Kutaisi was the capital of the Colchic kingdom. In the 15th century, the Imereti region separates from Georgia into an independent kingdom, and the city of Kutaisi becomes the capital of the Imereti kingdom.
We will visit the Temple of David and Constantine Motsameta. Divine Liturgy in the monastery of Motsameta (X century), which is located on the site of the martyrdom of the great Georgian princes David and Constantine (their relics are kept in the monastery in a special ark). The Gelati Temple Complex (XII century) is one of the most famous monasteries of ancient Georgia, beautifully restored, an outstanding monument of Georgian architecture, the center of spiritual and scientific life of the Middle Ages. In Gelati there is a tomb of Georgian kings. According to the chronicler of the era of Queen Tamara, she is buried in Gelati. There is also a tradition that later her ashes were transported to the Jerusalem Crusade Monastery. In Gelati there were the Khahulic and Atskuric icons of the Mother of God, as well as ancient manuscripts and many other relics. Evening we services in the famous Bagrat temple (X-XI centuries), opened after a long restoration. It is one of the spiritual centers of the Caucasus, a UNESCO monument. The temple is consecrated in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, here David the Builder was crowned.

KUTAISI - Gori - Uplistsikhe
